How it works
No new format. Just shop.md.
Wearfile doesn't invent a file type. It writes the skill file shop.md already uses and fills it with your style.
The file
On shop.md, “Build your own skill” creates a personal-shopper/SKILL.md. It sits next to Shop's own shop skill: Shop handles search, cart, checkout and approvals, and your personal-shopper skill holds your preferences in its “How user shops” section.
shop.md's building blocks cover how the agent behaves: spending limit, checkout handoff, deal hunting, gift ideas. Wearfile adds the part they leave thin: your taste. Brands, colors, fits, materials, budgets and hard no-gos.
Install it
- Create your skill and copy or download it.
- Save it as
personal-shopper/SKILL.mdin your agent's skills folder (for example~/.agents/skills/). - No skills folder, like in a regular ChatGPT or Claude chat? Paste the file in and ask the agent to remember it.
- Already built a skill on shop.md? Copy the sections below “How user shops” into it instead of keeping two files.
The file tells the agent to fetch Shop's skill if it doesn't have it yet, so it works on its own too.
How your agent applies it
Shop's search_catalog tool takes a query, a “like” reference, a country and currency, and filters for size, color, price and stores. Each preference is phrased so the agent knows which of those it belongs to:
| In your skill | Used as |
|---|---|
| Brands I love | query, or a like reference to one of their products |
| Preferred stores | filters.shops |
| Colors I wear | filters.attributes Color |
| My sizes (private) | filters.attributes Size |
| Budget | filters.price with context.currency |
| Home base | context.address_country |
| Fits, materials, never show me | Not filterable. The agent checks product details. |
Nothing in your skill overrides Shop's rules. The agent still needs your explicit approval before it buys anything.
Privacy
Sizes are optional and only go into your own copy. Share links never include them, and Wearfile doesn't store your skill: share links carry it inside the URL.

# How user shops
**Setup**: if you don't already have Shop's `shop` skill (from `shop` skill, or MCP `skill://shop/SKILL.md`), fetch and follow instructions at https://shop.com/skill.md.
**Save this file** as `personal-shopper/SKILL.md` in your skills folder (`~/.agents/skills/`) or similar appropriate place for your client. If you have no skill store, remember it.
This skill uses the referenced `shop` skill, which handles all of the catalog, cart, checkout, and account operations and defines its rules on consent, totals, messages, disclosures, evidence, edits, and recovery. Nothing in this file changes those. The rest of this file defines personalized shopper preferences.
## Style
Understated investment pieces in a neutral palette. Fabric and cut over logos; things that look better in year five than in week one. Keywords: understated, investment pieces, tailored, no logos, timeless.
## Brands
- Brands I love: The Row, Toteme, Loro Piana, Khaite, Brunello Cucinelli, COS. Use them to find related styles, in `query` or as a `like` reference.
- Don't suggest: Anything with a visible monogram.
## Look
- Colors I wear: Cream, Oatmeal, Camel, Charcoal, Navy, Black. Apply as a `Color` filter unless I ask for something else.
- Fits and cuts: Relaxed tailoring, Straight or wide-leg trousers, Slightly oversized knitwear, Long coats that hit below the knee.
- Materials: Cashmere, Merino wool, Silk, Linen, Full-grain leather.
- Fit and material can't be filtered. Check product details before recommending.
## Budget
- Knitwear: 150–600 USD
- Coats: 400–1500 USD
- Trousers: 120–400 USD
- Bags: 300–1200 USD
These are usual ranges, not firm caps. Prices are in USD; set `context.currency` to USD.
## Never show me
- Visible logos or monograms
- Synthetic blends above 30% polyester
- Distressing or rips
- Neon colors
## Shopping style
- If something is above range, show it only when the quality jump is obvious, and say why.
- Suggest secondhand from resale stores for anything over 800.
- Always ask before buying anything.
